HOW THE WORLD WON'T END

Why this blog on the end of the world? It is not to be pessimistic. I am optimistic that most of these really possible world endings are going to be very unlikely during the duration of the human race. We are, of course, the major threat to our own idiotic existence. Stupid is as stupid does and like bacteria we are more likely than not to run out of resources within the confines of our petri dish, Earth, and perish.

Of course there is a lot of faith, and foolish beliefs about the world ending by the action of some awesome deity that has nothing better to do than to coddle humans some of the time and roast them to toast this time around. This is not going to happen. This is rubbish! This is impossible.

Curiously the religious nuts are trying to use all the real world possibilities for the end of the world as parts of their religious vision of an evil god destroying humanity. That is religious pseudoscience. It is using science to serve ignorance and superstition.

So here are some of the ways our Earth might be destroyed but don't believe the religious nuts. No god they believe in is going to do what they think and they shouldn't be able to rip off science to further their delusional anticipations, ie their so-called faith.

ARMAGEDDONS REAL AND IMAGINED

Yes there are certain unpleasant realities and our extraordinary temporal finitude often strikes us as a cause for desperate cognitive measures. Hence we have religion and other causes for hope. I know of no way to avoid being personally affected by the unpleasantries of human existence and the often unpleasant and apparently unjust end of human existences.

I suppose we stare into the void with a combination of fear and loathing. Perhaps some have found a genuine equanimity about it all. The point of this discussion is simply to say that we all have a personal Armageddon sooner or later.

Similarly catastrophes and widespread human suffering has led to myths about the end of the world. The focus of this site will probably be more to the real ways the human race or life on earth could actually be destroyed, either by our own activities or by various, geological, climatic or celestial phenomena.

I wanted to enjoy some of these end times videos simply because of how impressive they are.

Let us laugh in the face of the omnipotent universe. 500 kilometer asteroid! I spit on you! Yet let us not submit to cowering religion embracing superstition and ignorance as authority! Science is our beacon in the night of our own ignorance and nightmares.
